iGEON Workshops

India: The first iGEON Cyberinfrastructure workshop was held at the University of Hyderabad, India in October, 2005 (http://geongrid.org/workshops/ciw_uofhyd/), immediately following the PRAGMA meeting at the same location. The workshop was supported by the GEON project as well as local sponsors, viz. the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Design (CMSD) and the University Center for Earth and Space Sciences (UCESS) at the University of Hyderabad.

A second iGEON workshop was held August 2007, also at the University of Hyderabad (http://cmsd.uohyd.ernet.in/files/igeon_slides/igeonpresentation.HTML), which was funded as part of the Indo-US GEON collaboration (see below).

China: A similar “Cyberinfrastructure for Geosciences” workshop was held in Beijing in July, 2006 (http://geongrid.org/workshops/beijing2006), immediately before the meeting of the AGU Western Pacific Chapter in Beijing. GEON received a supplement from NSF in support of this activity. In addition, the workshop was locally supported by the Geodynamics Lab of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Russia: A “Cyberinfrastructure for the Geosciences” workshop was held in Moscow in June 2007 (http://www.geongrid.org/workshops/moscow2007/). The meeting was co-sponsored by GEON and the Russian Academy of Sciences. A GEON PoP node has been installed at the World Data Center in the Geophysical Research Institute.
