Courses

GEON PIs are actively engaged in the development of geoinformatics courses in their respective departments and have also begun to work jointly with their Computer Science colleagues and students on campus to offer joint courses and project.

Here is a listing of course-related activities:

Remote Sensing and Quaternary Environments, Winter 2006, Ramon Arrowsmith, Department of Geological Sciences, Arizona State University; Co-taught with colleagues from Geography and Archeology, this class covers the basics of geoinformatics with emphasis on remote sensing, GIS, and DEM analysis using open source software such as GRASS GIS with applications toward assessing anthropogenic impacts on the environment. This course is utilizes numerous GEON resources.

Scientific Data Management, 2006, Bertram Ludaescher, Computer Science, UC Davis; An Undergrad course, esp. for non-CS majors.

Topics in Scientific Data Management, 2006, Bertram Ludaescher, Computer Science, UC Davis; A CS Graduate course.
