Partner Projects: CUAHSI-HIS

Project: CUAHSI-HIS (Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science – Hydrologic Information System)

Research Goals: CUAHSI is developing an information infrastructure for the support of hydrologic science throughout the hydrologic community. This system is based on a hydrologic data model integrating data from many water disciplines, as well as many related disciplines such as ecology and solid earth science, tracing the flow of water and transport of constituents throughout the landscape, and integrating data across a range of scales of space and time. The system consists of Information Sources, a Hydrologic
Information Database, and an Analysis and Visualization System, which provides a platform for asking an entirely new class of hydrologic science questions concerning the holistic functioning of the hydrologic cycle components. CUAHSI-HIS is integrated as a “node” within the GEONgrid.
GEON research staff member, John Helly, is a co-PI of the CUAHSI-HIS collaborative project, which is led by David Maidment at UT Austin.
